Real Madrid have rejected a €180m offer for Marco Asensio, his agent, Horacio Gaggioli, reveals.
Asensio, 23, has enjoyed a meteoric rise to prominence in the Spanish capital after initially bursting onto the scene with Mallorca five years ago.
Despite emerging as one of Spain’s brightest stars in recent years, the attacking maestro has often found significant starting opportunities hard to come by at the Bernabeu.
Last season Asensio started just 19 La Liga matches, and this term he’s mustered only 18, leading to reports of a summer move away from the club, with both Liverpool and Juventus believed to be eyeing up his signature.
Gaggioli, in an ESPN report, said that his client still has aspirations of becoming a success at Real, and so does the club by all accounts, given the exorbitant fees they have rejected for the player.
He said:
“Over the last year there have been offers as high as €150m and €180m, but Madrid did not want to listen to them.
“There is always interest in Marco from other big clubs, seeing if he wanted to leave, which is normal for the player he is.
“But he always says that he is very happy with Madrid, is only interested in being a success there. He is still a young kid, improving all the time, and the club is very happy with him too.”
