Kwara police arrest two for slitting neighbour’s throat

The Kwara State Police Command has apprehended two suspects, Abdullateef Yakubu and Yakubu Olanrewaju, residents of Shao Garage area in Ilorin, for allegedly slitting the throat of a neighbour following a disagreement.

The violent altercation took place around midnight on Monday in the Shao Garage area of Ilorin, situated in the Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The victim, Abubakar Babatunde, was discovered in a critical condition by his brother, AbdulRazaq Babatunde, who responded to the commotion prompted by a resident’s distress call.

According to a source familiar with the matter, Abubakar was found in a pool of blood, with his throat slashed.

The injured individual was promptly rushed to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital for urgent medical attention.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, stated, “The incident was reported, and two people were arrested over the incident. The needful will be done as soon as we have concluded our findings.”

The motive behind the violent act and the nature of the disagreement that led to such a gruesome incident are yet to be fully disclosed.
