Kwara govt condemns killing of monarch, abduction of three

The Kwara State governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq condemned confirming the killing of the Ekiti monarch and the abduction of the three individuals.

Gunmen had reportedly invaded the palace of the Olukoro of Koro in Ekiti local government area of Kwara State on Thursday night, resulting in the tragic death of the traditional ruler, General Segun Aremu (rtd).

The assailants also abducted the monarch’s wife and two others.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq expressed his deep concern and grief, emphasizing the need for security agencies to spare no resources in bringing the perpetrators to justice and rescuing the abducted individuals.

In a statement signed by his chief press secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, Governor AbdulRazaq conveyed his strong condemnation of the reckless act, stating, “The governor condemned the development, which he said was reckless, shocking, and abominable. He charged the security agencies not to spare any resources to track down the perpetrators, free the spouse and others taken away, and bring them to book.”

The governor expressed determination to ensure that the perpetrators face justice and asserted,

“We will certainly get the perpetrators and ensure that this is their last crime against humanity. My profound condolences go to the people of Koro. Our hearts are broken, and we stand by them at this time and always.”

The tragic incident adds to the growing concern over insecurity in certain regions, prompting a call for increased efforts to safeguard communities and bring an end to such senseless acts of violence.
