The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Policy, Sunday Dare, has explained why the Federal Government is not releasing full details of the rescue operation that freed 38 people kidnapped from Christ Apostolic Church, Oke Isegun, in Eruku, Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State.

Dare, in a post on his X account on Tuesday, said such operations involve sensitive planning and the work of several security units, which cannot be made public.

He wrote, “The process of securing or freeing victims of kidnappings is often a complicated one involving several steps and multiple security personnel, even local intelligence.

“The ultimate goal is to free the captives and of course apprehend the terrorists.

“The full details of such operations are never disclosed in full. It’s a security matter.”

Dare praised the security agencies for recent breakthroughs in Niger and Kwara states. According to him, those behind the attacks will face the law soon.

“We salute recent efforts by our security team in the Niger and Kwara incidents and know that perpetrators and the kidnappers will soon be arraigned to face the law of the land,” he said.

His comments came after Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, confirmed the release of all 38 church members who were abducted earlier in November.

In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor thanked President Bola Tinubu for taking direct charge of the rescue effort.

The statement said, “After many days of hard work by security forces and government representatives, HE AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is excited to announce the freedom of 38 persons who were recently abducted in an attack on Christ Apostolic Church Eruku, Ekiti LGA, Kwara State.”

Ajakaye added that the President delayed his planned trip to the G20 summit in South Africa so he could oversee security operations in both Kwara and Kebbi states.

“The governor says this is wholly due to the hands-on approach of President Bola Tinubu, who has personally led the efforts to free the abductees. The abductees were freed today, November 23. The governor is immensely grateful to President Bola Tinubu for his direct initiative that made this happen,” he said.

Dare noted that while the public deserves reassurance, security agencies must protect the strategies used in rescue missions to avoid compromising future operations.
