A member of the House of Representatives for Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency in Kano State, Abdulmumin Jibrin Kofa, has said that Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso is yet to determine his political future amid growing speculation about a possible defection to the All Progressives Congress.
Jibrin made this statement during an interview with Deutsche Welle after visiting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
The meeting has fueled speculation about potential talks between Tinubu and Kwankwaso, leader of the Kwankwasiyya Movement, on a possible alignment with the ruling party.
Responding to the rumours, Jibrin said, “My visit to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not unusual. Everyone is aware of my relationship with the President, just as they know the long-standing political respect between him and our leader, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. Both are political giants.”
He emphasized that he could neither confirm nor deny reports about Kwankwaso’s potential defection to the APC.
“Only Kwankwaso can make that decision,” he said.
“It is also a matter that concerns the President. I am too young to reconcile such political titans, but reconciliation is always a welcome development.”
Jibrin also dismissed claims that he was serving as an intermediary between the two political figures. “I am not a hypocrite. If there were any messages from Kwankwaso that I needed to relay to the President, I would do that. Likewise, if the President had anything for Kwankwaso, I would deliver it. That is not a problem.”
