A former presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, has welcomed the immediate past Deputy Governor of Kano State, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, into the African Democratic Congress, describing the move as a significant addition to the party’s expanding structure.

Kwankwaso disclosed this in a statement posted on his X account on Monday, commending Gwarzo’s decision to align with the opposition coalition. The former deputy governor formally joined the ADC on Sunday during a ceremony held in Gwarzo Town.

The event attracted a large crowd of party faithful, political stakeholders, and supporters, reflecting notable grassroots support for his defection.

Responding to the development, Kwankwaso expressed optimism about the impact of Gwarzo’s entry into the party, noting that his political experience would strengthen the ADC’s influence both within Kano and across other regions.

“I heartily congratulate Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, the immediate past Deputy Governor of Kano State, on his decision to join the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

“The grand reception held yesterday in Gwarzo Town has not only strengthened our ranks with his wealth of experience, but has also injected fresh energy and renewed enthusiasm into the party.

“Welcome home, Your Excellency, Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo,” the former presidential candidate said.
