Kogi tests 111 persons for Covid-19, all came back negative – commissioner

The Kogi State government says that the 111 people who were tested for coronavirus ( COVID-19) in the State returned negative.

The State Commissioner for Information and Communication Strategy, Mr. Kingsley Fanwo, in a statement on Tuesday, said the tests were conducted on the persons without the supervision of officials from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

He noted that the testing kits procured by the State were used to conduct the tests and that those tested were picked randomly.

“Kogi State got testing kits independently and followed NCDC guidelines,” the Commissioner said.

“111 COVID-19 rapid tests were conducted in Kogi State yesterday (Monday), and all results came out negative,” he added.

Fanwo also said that the State remained COVID-19-free.

He added:

“We shall not go to streets to pick people to be tested for COVID-19, but hospitals where people with similar symptoms are found and also based on any information of suspected cases.”
