The Governorship Candidate of the Action Alliance in the Kogi State election, Olayinka Braimoh, has provided an explanation regarding his arrest and subsequent detention on Saturday, which led to his disenfranchisement. Earlier in the day, Braimoh was arrested by security operatives.
In a video statement, Braimoh asserted, “I was disenfranchised, illegally locked up in Kabba Area Command for over eight hours, and my security details denied bail.” He expressed frustration over the situation, emphasizing that nothing incriminating was found on him during the arrest.
Braimoh’s arrest occurred after security operatives detained him and seven of his security details, alleging the discovery of campaign materials in his car.
His media aide, Musa Yakubu, confirmed the arrest to journalists stating that he had earlier raised concerns about Braimoh’s whereabouts.
Yakubu said, “The last time I heard from him was in the morning when he called from Kabba town, but all attempts to get through to him since that time proved abortive. His mobile lines have been switched off, including his entourage.”
