The Edo State government in a statement issued on Thursday, by the chief press secretary to the governor, Peter Okhiria, said it had suspended the Onojie of Uromi in the Esan North-East local government area, His Royal Highness, Anselm O. Aidenojie, from office for seven days for an alleged assault.
The traditional ruler was alleged to have assaulted a lady at a polling unit on the day of the just concluded Edo State governorship election.
Meanwhile, a post shared on the Facebook page of Uwa Atoe reads thus:
“He beat and stripped me naked. The blood you saw was from my private part”.Mrs Betty recounted”. The Onojie of Uromi went too far by slapping and causing bodily harm to a married woman openly in a polling boot. No king is above the law. I think kings should live by example. He may have been a buccaneer as a student but all that youthful exuberance is over. The king of Uromi should remember that he has left the campus setting and should drop those his rascally behaviour. He may be deposed if he does not tender apology to the state and Mrs Betty Okoebor within 7days. The governor is right to defend her subject.

If she is depending on outsiders to wrestle with her traditional ruler, she will not be helping her self self. Politics and politicians will come and go, the community and traditional ties will remain.
