The Edo State Police Command has confirmed the death of a seminarian, Peter Andrew, who was kidnapped alongside Reverend Father Philip Ekeli in Etsako East Local Government Area on March 3.

The command’s spokesperson, CSP Moses Yamu, announced on Friday in Benin that Fr. Ekeli was rescued by security operatives and local vigilantes on March 13 at about 4:52 p.m. in Amughe Community.

“Bush-combing efforts are ongoing to recover the remains of the seminarian and apprehend the remaining members of the gang,” Yamu said.

He recalled that during the abduction, one suspect was killed, and four others were arrested.

“Security forces are continuing operations to track down the fleeing kidnappers,” he added.

Yamu condemned the killing of the seminarian, assuring the public that the police would bring all those responsible to justice.

He also urged residents to remain alert and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.
