A tragic incident has occurred in Anambra State, where a banker identified as Ifeoma was kidnapped and later killed by her abductors, despite her family paying a ransom.
The kidnappers reportedly abducted Ifeoma in Onitsha. After receiving the ransom, they still murdered her and dumped her body at Ideani Junction along the Nnobi-Alor road.
Human rights activist Harrison Gwamnishi shared the heartbreaking news on Facebook on Tuesday, posting a picture of the victim’s corpse and expressing outrage over the rising insecurity in the state.
“Ifeoma, a banker, was kidnapped in Anambra State. Ransom was demanded, and the family paid, but her abductors still killed her and dumped her body around Ideani junction, Nnobi/Alor road, Anambra. Lives are being taken daily, and it’s sad nothing is being done to end all these killings. WHO IS NEXT? If we fold our hands and do nothing, it may get to you,” Gwamnishi wrote.
The Anambra State Police Command has confirmed the incident. Spokesperson Tochukwu Ikenga stated, “The command received the information about an abandoned female corpse found along the Nnobi-Alor Road, allegedly dumped by suspected kidnappers. The corpse has been evacuated, the pictures have been escalated, and investigations have begun to uncover the circumstances behind the victim’s death.”
