Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has praised the decision of Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, and former governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, to leave the Peoples Democratic Party and join the All Progressives Congress.

Keyamo, who is from Delta State and a strong supporter of the APC, reacted to the news on Wednesday through his X (formerly Twitter) handle. He described the defection as a major political victory for the party.

“Today is the day the Lord has made in Delta State. Finally, finally Delta is APC!” he wrote.

He said the decision showed that President Bola Tinubu’s leadership style and open-door approach were working. “Thank you, Mr. President, for your leadership that has attracted the best to our party,” Keyamo added.

The minister also showed public support for Governor Oborevwori, calling him his “leader and Governor.”

“Thank you, my leader & Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori for your foresight and courage in taking this bold decision,” he said.

The defection of Oborevwori, Okowa, and many other PDP members in Delta State was announced earlier on Wednesday after a long meeting at the Government House in Asaba.

Political observers say this move will shake up politics in Delta and may change the strength of parties ahead of the 2027 general elections.
