Renowned American comedian and actor, Kevin Hart, has been announced as the host of the 2025 Black Entertainment Television Awards.

The highly anticipated event is scheduled to take place on June 9 at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles.

According to a statement released by the organisers on Wednesday, this year’s edition will mark a major milestone—25 years of the BET Awards—celebrating the most impactful voices across music, film, television, and sports. The statement also confirmed that Hart will bring his trademark humour and vibrant energy to the stage.

“As one of the most influential figures in entertainment, Hart’s presence highlights BET’s commitment to celebrating Black culture and its significant contributions to the global landscape,” the statement read. “BET Awards special 25th anniversary edition promises to deliver the ultimate show-stopping performances, powerful moments, and heartfelt tributes reflecting Black culture’s depth and richness over the last quarter century.”

Reacting to the news, Hart expressed excitement about leading the ceremony, describing the occasion as an important cultural celebration.

“I love a celebration! It’s a chance to reflect, cherish, and honor life’s unforgettable moments,” he said. “This year marks the 25th anniversary, and my partners at Hartbeat, BET, and JCE are pulling out all the stops to make it a night to remember. It’s a Black-Tie affair, and you’re all invited. Tune in live on June 9th, only on BET.”

The 2025 BET Awards will be broadcast live on June 10 at 1:00 am WAT on BET, DStv Channel 129, and GOtv Channel 21.

Hart, known for his dynamic performances and best-selling books, continues to dominate the entertainment space. In 2023, Billboard named him the ‘Highest Grossing Comedian of the Year,’ and in 2024, he received the prestigious Mark Twain Prize for American Comedy from the Kennedy Center.
