Kebbi State Governor, Dr. Nasir Idris, has promised quick resettlement for victims of the recent attacks in Lakurawa, Arewa Local Government Area.

Idris made this pledge on Wednesday during his visit to the Internally Displaced Persons camp in Kangiwa, Kebbi State. The camp is currently sheltering those displaced from Birnin Debe, Dan Marke, and Tambo, where armed attackers killed 11 people and set one of the villages on fire last Saturday.

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Yahaya Sarki, the governor said the visit was to offer condolences and assess the situation to help the government respond effectively.

Expressing sadness over the loss of lives and property, Idris praised security agencies for their efforts in controlling the crisis. However, he raised concerns about the repeated attacks, which he said often come from neighboring Sokoto State and Niger Republic.

“Let me commend the Chairman of Arewa Local Government for quickly setting up the IDP camp as per my directive,” Idris said.

To support the displaced persons, the governor announced the immediate provision of 100 additional bags each of rice and millet, along with a cow to be slaughtered every four to five days to feed the victims.

Idris assured the victims that his administration is committed to ensuring their safe return home and pledged to take all necessary steps to restore peace and normalcy in the affected areas.
