The Joint Consultative Forum of tertiary institutions owned by the Katsina State Government has suspended its two-week warning strike.

The forum’s chairman, Dr. Muhammad Nasir-Gidado, announced the suspension in a statement on Saturday. The strike began on January 12, 2026, over unmet demands including the non-approval and non-implementation of 35% and 25% salary increments for staff.

Other grievances included the delayed implementation of proper placement for CONTISS 15 non-migrated staff and an “unsympathetic increase” in student registration fees, which the forum said lowered enrolment.

“Following the intervention of relevant key stakeholders and concerned respected indigenes of the state, the Forum wishes to announce the suspension of this warning strike,” Nasir-Gidado stated.

He added that negotiations with the state government would commence immediately to resolve all outstanding issues.

The affected institutions are Hassan Usman Katsina Polytechnic, Isa Kaita College of Education (Dutsin-ma), Yusuf Bala Usman College of Education and Legal Studies (Daura), College of Nursing Sciences (Katsina and Malumfashi), College of Health Science and Technology (Daura/Kankia), and the Institute of Technology and Management.

The forum urged members to resume work with “usual dedication and commitment” and thanked parents and students for their understanding, promising to pursue their demands vigorously.
