Katsina suspends school principal for alleged negligence

Katsina State Government on Tuesday announced the suspension of the principal of its Government Girls Arabic Senior Secondary School, Fago, Fatima Yakubu for alleged negligence.

The state Commissioner of Education, Badamasi Lawal announced the suspension in Katsina while briefing newsmen on the recent death of an SS2 student in the school, Fatima Maikano.

The Commissioner did not disclose the duration of the suspension.

He also announced that a mathematics teacher, Abubakar Suleiman, who was privately engaged by the principal to teach in the school, had been banned from any government schools in the state.

He disclosed that the state government had banned corporal punishment in its schools.

He warned principals and teachers to ensure that no student is henceforth flogged with a cane.
