The Katsina State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has recorded the arrest of 2,088 criminal suspects and recovered more than N56.6 million in the course of its operations in 2025, according to the State Commandant, Mr Abbas Moriki.
Addressing journalists on Tuesday in Katsina, Moriki explained that the arrests stemmed from 4,230 cases handled by the command within the period.
He said the suspects included 93 persons arrested for vandalism, 942 for theft, 272 for possession of illicit drugs, and 26 for assault-related offences.
He added that another 755 suspects were apprehended for various other crimes, including breach of trust and acts of thugger.
The commandant also disclosed that the NSCDC resolved 4,767 disputes through its Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) mechanism, while 1,158 cases were still being processed under the initiative.
“A total of 43 cases are at various stages of prosecution in courts, while 577 judgments were secured by the command during the year,” Moriki said.
Moriki further revealed that the command recovered a total sum of N56,630,800, in addition to seizing several exhibits. These included vandalised items, bales of insecticide-treated mosquito nets, vehicles, motorcycles, bags of cannabis, as well as other illicit drugs and substances.
He attributed the achievements to the dedication of officers and men of the command, as well as effective collaboration with stakeholders and sister security agencies.
The commandant commended the Katsina State Government for its continued support and praised journalists for their role in the timely dissemination of security-related information.
He appealed to residents of the state to stay alert and promptly report any suspicious activities or items to the NSCDC for swift action.
