Katsina gov donates N3.5m to rescued kidnap victims

The Governor of Katsina State, Dikko Radda has donated a total sum of N3.5 million to 35 individuals who were recently rescued by Nigerian Army troops.

Each rescued person received N100,000 from the governor to help them rebuild their lives and resume their normal business activities.

The victims had been kidnapped by armed bandits from Tashar Nagulle and Nahuta villages in Batsari Local Government Area of the state.

The successful rescue operation took place at Dumburum Forest, where an intense gun battle unfolded between soldiers and the bandits.

The Commander of the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, Brigadier General O.A Fadairo, handed over the rescued individuals to Governor Radda at the Katsina State Government House.

Expressing gratitude for the successful rescue, Governor Radda thanked Almighty Allah for ensuring the safety of both the security operatives and the previously abducted civilians.

He emphasized the progress being made in the fight against banditry in Katsina, citing the elimination of many terrorists, dislodgment of their camps, and the recovery of various weapons through joint efforts of security operatives in the state.

The governor commended the army and other security operatives while issuing a stern warning to individuals “romancing” with terrorists in the state.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to dealing decisively with anyone found collaborating with or supporting terrorist activities.

The Governor also revealed additional measures taken by the State Government to support victims of banditry, including free medical care for victims, allowances for security agencies, and educational support for those who lost parents during violent attacks by terrorists.

Fadairo, in his remarks, detailed the intensive gun battle that led to the successful rescue of the victims at Dumburum Forest.

The commander expressed the army’s dedication to combating banditry and ensuring the safety of citizens in the state.
