Katsina bans open grazing in metropolis, surrounding communities

Wakilin Kudin Katsina, Alhaji Abdu Iliyasu, has banned the Open grazing of animals within the Katsina metropolis and its surrounding communities.

The directive was contained in a statement signed by Iliyasu and made available to newsmen on Wednesday.

He said the directive became effective from Tuesday, August 3, 2021, adding that effective machinery had been put in place to make the implementation effective.

When The PUNCH contacted the spokesman for the Katsina Emirate Council, Mallam Iro Bindawa, he said he was out of town and could not comment on the development until he returned.

WuzupNaigeria had reported that Governor Aminu Masari had in July 2021 disclosed that the President, Major General Muhammad Buhari( retd) had approved N6.25 billion for the state for the ranching project in the state.

He said the Federal Government had already disbursed N5bn out of the amount for the project.

Masari said, “Mr President has graciously approved the sum of N6.25 billion for ranch development purposes in Katsina State.

“Part of this amount, N5 billion is already in the account of the state government and within few weeks, you will see advertisements calling for interested companies and consultants that would wish to participate.”
