The Kano State Government has taken over the prosecution of the suspects involved in the brutal killing of a housewife and her six children at Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters.

The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Abdulkarim Kabiru Maude, SAN, announced the decision on Monday, stating it was on the directive of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to ensure justice for the victims.

Maude described the killings as “a grave affront to humanity and the rule of law.” He said, “On the directive of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kano State, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, my office will take over the prosecution of this case to ensure that justice is not only done but seen to be done.”

According to preliminary findings, the assailants broke into the residence late Saturday morning. The woman reportedly attempted to raise an alarm and contact relatives, but the attackers carried out the killings before help arrived.

Some of the children had just returned from school, and one of the victims was said not to be her biological child.

The case was initially reported at the Dorayi Divisional Police Office and later transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, leading to the arrest of suspects.

The Attorney General commended the police for their swift response and assured the public of transparency and due process during prosecution. He urged residents to remain calm, vigilant, and supportive of security agencies with credible information.

Maude stated the government would keep the public updated and ensure anyone found culpable faces the full weight of the law.
