Operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Kano State Command, have apprehended four suspected vandals and burglars accused of breaking into houses across the state.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Abdullahi, confirmed the arrests in a statement released to City Round on Friday, saying the suspects were caught in three different local government areas and have confessed to their crimes.
“In the course of our determined effort and intensified operations within the state, we have arrested some notorious suspected vandals and burglars who specialised in burgling into houses at three different locations in the state. These places include Dambatta, Fagge, and Tarauni LG areas. The suspects have so far confessed to committing the offences. Moreover, all the suspects were caught in possession of the stolen items,” the statement read.
Abdullahi listed the items recovered from the suspects, including nine mobile phones, one bicycle, three standing fans, three solar panels, and a flat-screen television. Additional items included two bundles of wires, two burglar windows, iron, three MP3 speakers, a small solar panel, a power bank, and three motor vehicle tyres.
“The arrest of these suspected criminals is part of our continued effort to forestall the nefarious activities of vandals and other criminal elements in Kano State,” he added.
He explained that investigations into the cases have been completed and that the suspects would soon face charges in court.
In a related development, the NSCDC Kano State Command previously announced the arrest of 19 individuals suspected of vandalism across several local government areas on September 25, including three suspects apprehended for cable theft.
