The Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party faction in Kano State, Hashim Dungurawa, has pledged unwavering allegiance to the party’s political leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, stating that the faction will follow him wherever he chooses to go politically.

Dungurawa made the declaration in an interview with LEADERSHIP Sunday while responding to speculations about Kwankwaso’s potential defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress.

He emphasized that the loyalty of their group to the former Kano governor remains absolute.

“We are all blind and he is our political leader and guide, so wherever he goes is where we will be. Whatever he chooses for us is what we will do; no more no less. Therefore, whatever party he moves to, is where we will all move to,” he stated.

Senator Kwankwaso, the face of the Kwankwasiyya Movement—known for their signature red caps—has long commanded a devoted following within Kano State. During the last general election, he moved from the Peoples Democratic Party to the NNPP, taking with him a large segment of the Kwankwasiyya faithful.

That political shift played a decisive role in the NNPP’s electoral victory in Kano State, where the party now leads the government. The remarks by Dungurawa further underscore the centralized influence Kwankwaso holds over the movement’s political direction.
