Kano Hisbah arrests five men for allegedly engaging in homosexuality

The Kano State Hisbah Board said it arrested 62 people for alleged immoral acts during a late-night raid in Dawakin Kudu Local Government Area.

Deputy Commandant of the board, Mujahid Aminudeen, told reporters on Monday that the arrests were carried out on Sunday in a joint operation with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

He explained that the suspects, made up of 27 men and 35 women, were picked up at the Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology training centre after the board got an intelligence tip.

According to him, “the suspects took advantage of the heavy rainfall in the area to engage in immoral activities.”

Aminudeen warned that Hisbah would not tolerate violations of Sharia law and urged residents to report such incidents.

The board also carried out another raid at Tamburawa Bridge, where more people were arrested for similar offences.

“All the suspects will be taken to court after investigations are completed,” Aminudeen said.
