The Kano State Hisbah Board has arrested seven people for alleged immoral activities at a spot along Zoo Road in Kano.
The Board’s Deputy Commander-General, Mujahideen Aminudeen, said this in a statement on Wednesday. He noted that the arrests were made on Tuesday night after residents raised complaints.
Aminudeen said, “I am happy to announce that our operatives were lucky to arrest seven pimps in a joint at Zoo Road in Kano, where young women and men gather together and engage in all sorts of immoral acts.”
He explained that some of the suspects were from Kano while others came from Bauchi and Kogi states. He added that the oldest suspect was only 23 years old.
Aminudeen also disclosed that operatives caught a teenage boy and a young girl in a compromising situation inside a tricycle.
He said, “We also arrested another girl who returned to Kano after she was repatriated to her home town in Sokoto State.”
He confirmed that the total number of arrested suspects now stands at 10, and they will be taken to court after investigations.
Aminudeen recalled that the Board’s anti-trafficking unit stopped an attempt on Saturday to traffic two girls to Lagos for onward movement to Saudi Arabia. The victims were identified as 16-year-old Zaharau Audu from Zaria and 18-year-old Karjahar Salim from Fagge in Kano.
He urged parents to watch over their children, saying, “These children are a trust from Allah, and He will ask you about how you safeguarded that trust.”
In October, Hisbah arrested more than 25 people for allegedly organising a same-sex wedding at the Fatima Event Centre in Hotoro, Kano.
