Following the recent fire outbreak at the Gwale Local Government Secretariat caused by miscreants, Kano State Deputy Governor Aminu Gwarzo, who also serves as the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, has committed to a comprehensive investigation. The incident resulted in significant property damage amounting to millions of naira.

During his visit to the affected site on Saturday evening to assess the extent of the damage, Gwarzo assured the public that the government would spare no effort in determining the cause and holding those responsible accountable.

Expressing deep sorrow over the unfortunate incident and the resultant losses, Gwarzo emphasized the government’s commitment to unveiling the motive behind the act and ensuring that the perpetrators face legal consequences.

He urged the residents of Gwale to remain calm and law-abiding throughout the investigation, acknowledging the frustration and anger the incident has caused.

“We are deeply saddened by this unfortunate incident and the losses incurred.

“We will work tirelessly to investigate the motive behind the ungodly act and ensure that anyone involved faces the full wrath of the law,”

“We understand the frustration and anger this incident has caused, but we ask for your patience and cooperation as we work to get to the bottom of this,” he said.

According to Alhaji Auwal Danbatta, the Director of Personnel for Local Governments, the fire occurred on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, affecting three departments—Works, Community, and WASH—and impacting 18 offices within the Secretariat.

Accompanied by former Kano State Deputy Governor Prof. Hafizu Abubakar, the District Head of Gwale, and other high-ranking government officials, Gwarzo conducted an inspection visit to the site to assess the extent of the damage and demonstrate the government’s commitment to addressing the situation.
