Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has unequivocally affirmed the fairness and absence of political considerations in the recent appointments of permanent secretaries in the state.

During the swearing-in ceremony for 21 new permanent secretaries and 14 special advisers on Tuesday, Governor Yusuf assured that the selections were meticulously made, prioritizing competence, experience, dedication, and a proven fear of God.

In his address to the appointees, Governor Yusuf emphasized the significance of their roles in the new era of the NNPP, urging them to deliver optimal performance for the advancement of Kano.

He stated, “We selected the best in competence, experience, dedication to duty, and proven fear of God. That is why we are expecting you to perform to the optimal high point for a better Kano.”

The governor further highlighted the need for decorum and professionalism in their duties, emphasizing the value of their appointments in contributing to the state’s progress. “You should consider your appointment a valued one that is desirable in the new dispensation of the NNPP,” he added.

Governor Yusuf outlined his government’s commitment to ushering in a new era of hope and development for Kano. He expressed confidence that the appointed permanent secretaries would play a pivotal role in achieving these objectives.

He also conveyed his administration’s stance on zero tolerance for incompetence and abuse of office, urging the appointees to dedicate themselves to serving humanity and the state.

While acknowledging the inevitability of human errors, Governor Yusuf cautioned the appointees to be extra careful in upholding the oath they have taken.

He advised them to steer clear of political influences in their duties, stating, “Politics should not be a yardstick for carrying out your duties. You should be free and do away with hypocrisy and gossiping; if you accurately discharge your duties, the sky would be your limit in life.”
