Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has approved the appointment of three new second-class Emirs for the emirates of Rano, Gaya, and Karaye. This decision is effective immediately.
In a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Tofa, it was explained that the new emirates are second-class, with Kano remaining a first-class emirate.
Alhaji Muhammad Karaye has been appointed as the Emir of Karaye. He was previously the District Head of Rogo.
Alhaji Muhammad Umar has been appointed as the Emir of Rano. He was previously the District Head of Bunkure.
Alhaji Aliyu Abdulkadir Gaya has been appointed as the Emir of Gaya. He was previously the Emir of the defunct Gaya emirate.
Governor Abba Yusuf expressed his congratulations to the newly appointed Emirs and urged them to promote culture, peace, and unity in their respective emirates. “While congratulating the newly appointed Emirs, Governor Abba Yusuf enjoined them to be custodians of culture, peace, and unity of the people in their respective emirates,” the statement said.
On Tuesday, Governor Yusuf signed into law the creation of three second-class emirates in the state. The boundaries of these emirates are as follows: Rano covers only Rano, Kibiya, and Bunkure Local Government Areas. Gaya covers only Gaya, Ajingi, and Albasu Local Government Areas. Karaye covers only Karaye and Rogo Local Government Areas.
