The Kaduna State Police Command reported a significant breakthrough in crime prevention with the arrest of three suspected car snatchers, as confirmed by ASP Mansir Hassan, the command’s Police Public Relations Officer.
The arrests, conducted by officers from Zaria City Divisional Headquarters on December 23, 2023, in Agoro-Tudun Wada Zaria, were highlighted in a statement issued by Hassan.
According to Hassan, one of the suspects, a 28-year-old from Hayin Baki Birnin Gwari Kaduna State, was caught with a stolen red Toyota Corolla bearing the license plate Kano GWL 188 TT at the time of his apprehension.
Another suspect, nabbed by operatives of Sabon Gari Zaria Division on the same day, confessed to stealing a grey-colored Toyota Corolla LE 2003 model in Kaduna town, intending to sell it in Zaria.
Describing the second suspect, Hassan stated, “The said suspect confessed to having stolen the vehicle in Kaduna town and brought it to Zaria to dispose it off. He is a dismissed soldier known notoriously for car snatching, theft, and other crimes in Benin, Kaduna, and Zaria.”
On December 27, 2023, operatives of Sabon Gari Zaria Division arrested a third suspect from Graceland Zaria, found in possession of a stolen white Toyota Hilux pickup van with the registration number Jigawa GML 40 AG. The suspect claimed to have acquired the van from an individual named Ibrahim, and the legitimate owner has been traced.
Hassan emphasized, “All three cases are undergoing investigation, and efforts are underway to trail the suspects’ accomplices for a possible arrest. At the end of which they will all be charged to court to face the full wrath of the law.”
Commending the successful operations, Commissioner of Police, Kaduna State Command, Audu Ali, expressed his satisfaction, stating, “I commend our operatives who responded swiftly.” He urged the police force not to relent in curbing criminal activities and encouraged the public to provide credible information for prompt responses by security agencies.
