Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, has downplayed concerns over President Bola Tinubu’s chances in the 2027 presidential election, describing emerging opposition movements as no real threat to the incumbent president or the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television on Friday, Governor Sani reacted to the formation of the National Opposition Coalition Group, which has formally begun the process of registering with the Independent National Electoral Commission.

According to him, the coalition poses no danger to President Tinubu’s political future.

He said the coalition “is not a threat and does not suggest that trouble was looming for Tinubu and the ruling All Progressives Congress.”

Led by former Senate President David Mark, the coalition also includes notable political figures such as former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, former Rivers State Governor Chibuike Amaechi, and former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai.

“I can tell you today, but go and write it down and remember this day. Asiwaju has no threat,” Sani said.

He further questioned the credibility of some of the opposition voices, saying, “Most of the people speaking today, where were they when we were in the trenches fighting for democracy, for justice, for good governance, for the rule of law? They didn’t know anything about it.”

Sani’s comments follow recent remarks by El-Rufai, who declared that President Tinubu and the APC would not be able to secure victory in the 2027 election. El-Rufai accused the current administration of failing Nigerians and claimed the party had brought untold hardship to the people, questioning who would still support it.
