JUST IN: Terrorists massacre 11 soldiers, raze armoured vehicles in Kaduna

Published

No fewer than 11 soldiers were brutally killed in an ambush by terrorists along the popular Kaduna-Birnin Gwari highway in Kaduna State.

The bandits , in their hundreds, ambushed and slaughtered the soldiers.

Daily Trust reports that after neutralising the hapless troops, the terrrorists set fire to two seized military Armoured Personnel Carriers on Sunday.

An informed source said that in recent times, the 123km stretch Kaduna-Birnin Gwari highway has been identified as one of the most deadly zones in northern Nigeria.

Report said that the terrorists, disguised as herdsmen, were moving several cows when the solders engaged them.

“The soldiers thought it was a few bandits and engaged them. Yes, they killed some of the bandits but the terrorists overpowered them. The terrorists do not leave their dead behind. They also burnt down two Armoured Personnel Carriers.”

A resident of Birnin Gwari, Abdul Ahmed, confirmed that a military redeployment was sent to the area to evacuate the dead soldiers.

Ahmed said that he counted about 11 corpses of soldiers loaded into a van.

In a video made available, the corpses of the soldiers were seen littering the roadside.

This is one of the many attacks in Kaduna in the last few weeks.

Recall that shortly after an official of the Nigerian Airspace Management Authority was killed when bandits struck outside the Kaduna International Airport, a Kaduna-bound train was also attacked nine passengers reported dead and many others abducted.

The provocation compelled Governor Nasir El-Rufai to suggest the option of mercenaries if the Federal Government failed to act.
