Over 35 killed, houses razed as bandits attack Jos village
No fewer than 35 villagers have been killed by gunmen suspected to be bandits during a fresh attack at Yelwa Zangam community in Plateau State.
This comes barely one week after over 25 travellers were killed in Gada -Biyu – Rukuba Road in Jos North LGA.
The NATION reports that the attack took place at the community which is close to the University of Jos (UNIJOS) around 9pm on Tuesday.
The assailants were said to have disabled the bridge leading to Naraguta community, preventing any access to help before launching the attacks.
According to an eyewitness, the bandits shot at sight and burnt houses.
Further reports revealed that over 35 corpses have been recovered.
Confirming the attack, a resident, Yakubu, said that more than 30 people were killed, adding that security personnel had been deployed in the area.
Plateau Police Command, spokesman, ASP Gabriel Ubah said, “We are aware of an incident in the area, I will brief later.”
