The Nigerian Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Wednesday evening disclosed that it has arrested Afro rapper, Sodiq Yusuf professionally known as CDQ, when operatives discovered ‘loud,’ a cannabis variant, in his Lekki residence.
The singer was said to have been picked up by the anti-drug enforcement agency for allegedly violating the drug law.
Speaking exclusively with WuzupNigeria, NDLEA’s Director, Media, and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi confirmed his arrest.
Babafemi told our correspondent that the invasion of his estate in Lekki followed an intelligence report the agency received.
“The NDLEA raided his apartment this evening and effected his arrest. The operatives also recovered some substances that has been identified as loud, a variant of cannabis. Some quantities were recovered from his house along with some paraphernalia of smoking and snorting.
“We are currently analysing them and the suspect is undergoing interrogation,” he said.
When asked if the artiste has been released on bail, the NDLEA spokesman disclosed that he was aware that efforts are currently being made to secure his release.
“They (NDLEA operatives) were considering granting him bail for him to report to the office again tomorrow morning,” he noted.
Meanwhile, there have been talks of the artiste’s arrest being a setup from fellow artistes in the industry.
It was alleged that he has been at loggerheads with a couple of stars for a while.
