Adewale Laloko, son of the late former technical director of the Nigeria Football Federation, Kashimawo Laloko, on Sunday night confirmed that his father did not die of COVID-19 as speculated.
Laloko, founder of Pepsi Football Academy died on Sunday morning and family members confirmed that he would be buried at his Gbonagun residence in Abeokuta on 29th March according to Islamic rites.
When called on phone, his death was confirmed by his son, Adewale who disclosed that the 76-year-old former youth coach died in Lagos, after a brief illness.
“He had been feeling weak before he died on Sunday. It was as a result of weakness, not COVID-19,” Adewale said.
Laloko could be best be remembered as a one of the nation’s finest coaches, technical adviser, skillful player, mentor and trainer.
He was a great disciplinarian, a dedicated Egba high chief who until his death was the Parakoyi of Egbaland.
The former NFF director was also an old boy of the famous Abeokuta Grammar School, Ogun State.
