JUST IN: Man Utd right-back Diogo Dalot joins AC Milan on loan

Published

Manchester United right-back, Diogo Dalot has joined Italian outfit, AC Milan on a season-long loan deal, the club announced on Sunday.

Milan beat rivals AS Roma who have also been chasing the young Portuguese full-back throughout the summer window.

The 21-year-old joined the Reds from Porto in the summer of 2018, making 35 appearances for United so far, most recently as a starter in Wednesday night’s Carabao Cup win at Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Portuguese full-back’s Old Trafford career has been hampered by a series of injury which made it difficult for him to break into Ole Gunnar-Solskjaer’s first 11.

Earlier this year, he scored his first goal for the club, in January’s 6-0 victory at Tranmere Rovers in the Emirates FA Cup.

Dalot will be remembered by United fans for securing the winning penalty against Paris Saint Germain as the Reds defeated the French giants 3-1 at the  Parc Des Frans to overturn a two-goal deficit.

Solksjare’s men defied the odds to qualify for the Champions League quarter-finals after Marcus Rashford slot in the penalty, beating world-renowned goalie, Buffon.

He’ll become the latest player to have represented both the Reds and the Rossoneri, following the likes of Joe Jordan, Ray Wilkins, Jesper Blomqvist, Jaap Stam, David Beckham, Massimo Taibi, Darmian and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
