JUST IN: Iwobi may face Lesotho after testing negative for COVID-19
Super Eagles midfielder, Alex Iwobi, has tested negative for coronavirus (COVID-19) as Nigeria prepare for Lesotho on Tuesday.
The Everton star missed Saturday’s 1-0 win against the Squirrels of Benin Republic after contracting the virus prior to the match.
However after another round of tests were conducted on the entire team, the Nigeria Football Federation via its verified Twitter handle confirmed that the former Arsenal midfielder tested negative for the virus.
“@NGSuperEagles forward, @alexiwobi has tested negative after further COVID-19 tests were conducted,” the statement read.
Iwobi could however be in the squad to face Lesotho today as the Super Eagles wrap up their African Cup of Nations qualifiers at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.
