JUST IN: Ex-Deputy Senate President, Ibrahim Mantu, is dead

The former deputy President of the Nigerian Senate and ex-Plateau Central Senator, Ibrahim Nasiru Mantu, is dead.

Sources said that Mantu died in the early hours of Tuesday.

As of the time of filing this report, details about the cause of his death is still sketchy.

Born on February 16, 1947 in the present Plateau State, Mantu was national chairman defunct Liberal (Convention) and Director-General, defunct National Republican Convention, Presidential Campaign, 1993.

He served as the National Chairman defunct Peoples Democratic Alliance; National Publicity Secretary, defunct United Nigeria Congress Party.

He was elected, Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria representing, Plateau Central Senatorial District, 1999-2007; Chairman Senate, Independent Consolidation Committee on Cushioning Measures, (ICCCM), 2005.

Mantu was also the Chairman of the defunct National Assembly Joint Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution, 2006.
