Just-In: EFCC produces fugitive ex-pension boss Maina in court
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have produced in court former pension boss, Abulrasheed Maina.
Maina was extradited to Nigeria yesterday after he jumped bail by fleeing to the Niger Republic.
Recall that his surety, Senator Ali Ndume, was sent to jail by a Federal Court after he failed to produce him in court.
Maina who is now back in the country was presented in court today for the continuation of the money laundering trial against him.
Ruling on the EFCC’s application for a remand order, Justice Okon Abang said, “The defendant is already on bench warrant having jumped bail.
“So he shall be remanded in correctional centre pending the conclusion of the trial.”
Maina’s lawyer who took over after the previous one left asked the court for an adjournment so he can prepare well for the case.
