JUST IN: Drama as #IStandWithBuhari group shows up at Dunamis Church

There was a palpable air of tension at the Dunamis International Gospel Centre in Abuja when youths spotting #IStandWithBuhari T-Shirts showed up at the church headquarters in Abuja during the service on Sunday.

The group which identified itself as Abuja Grass root Project (AGP), was seen at the entrance of the church with customised #IStandwithBuhari shirts and caps.

This development followed a report that the aggrieved group of #BuhariMustGo youths whose members were arrested last Sunday are planning to stage a protest at the church in collaboration with the convener of #RevolutionNow, Omoyele Sowore.

WuzupNigeria reported how five of the 10 activists wearing #BuhariMustGo shirts were nabbed and subsequently whisked away by operatives of the Department for State Service (DSS) last Sunday at the church.

According to SaharaReporters, the proposed protest is to express displeasure with their arrest and the heightened state of insecurity in the country.

However, sources disclosed that armed security operatives have been deployed to the worship centre to forestall a breakdown of law and order from the group.

Explaining their mission at the church on Sunday, Coordinator of the Abuja Grassroots Project, Comrade Yunusa Yusuf said that they got reliable information that following the arrest of some youths wearing #BuhariMustGo inscriptions to Dunamis International Gospel Centre, the co-convener, #RevolutionNow, Omoyele Sowore wants to lead his followers to stage a protest.

BluePrint quoted Yusuf as saying that the Church of God must prevail against every evil plan, adding people like Sowore should not be allowed to ridicule the church for their selfish reasons.

“So we must do whatever it takes to prevent such from happening, mostly from people who we perceived do not have the sincere interest of God at heart. Dunamis International is a church, not presidential villa or protest ground that anybody would want to come with branded t-shirts meant for protest, just to score cheap political or social points.

“The Church of God must be given the respect it deserves and not be desecrated by selfish politicians or self-acclaimed activists. We can not under our watch sit down and allow any person or group to destroy the hard-earned reputation of God’s servant, Dr. Paul Enenche in a very cheap manner.

“Because, in the course of our Christian voyage, we have been following the activities of Pastor Eneche, and we have seen that he has a passion for soul-winning, so we will not allow anybody to come out from anywhere to tarnish the good name that the man of God has built-in his years or total service to God Almighty.

“Having done our in-depth investigation, we discovered that Omoleye Sowore was desperate to hijack a whole church meeting for a cheap political score against the government and conscript the Dunamis church into political theatre. That is why we will not sit down and watch him drag the Church of God and the revered man of God into his negative schemes,” he said.

Recall that Sowore had last week given Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Paul Enenche, a 48 -hour ultimatum to secure the release of the five activists from DSS custody or risk disruption of the Sunday service.

In response, Enenche had denied having a hand in the invitation of the DSS as well as the arrest of the activists in a statement.

According to him, the five victims were arrested outside the church premises.
