Armed men suspected to be bandits have reportedly shot dead a member of Kaduna State House of Assembly, Rilwanu Aminu Gadagau.

His death was announced by a former Kaduna State Senator, Shehu Sani, via his official Twitter handle on Wednesday.

Gadagau was the lawmaker representing the Giwa West constituency in Kaduna.

Shehu disclosed in a series of tweets, after calling for solemn prayer in honour of the deceased, that Gadagau was shot by bandits on his way to Kaduna.

The senator said that the lawmaker gave up the ghost before help could reach him.

He tweeted, “A member of Kaduna State House of Assembly Hon Rilwanu Aminu Gadagau from Giwa LG is reportedly shot and killed by bandits on his way to Kaduna. A tragedy a day.Inna lillahi wainna Illayhir rajiun.”

Recall that SaharaReporters reported some days ago how several travellers were ambushed by bandits who opened fire on them along the busy Kaduna-Zaria Road in the same state.

Sources said that the assailants struck around 8pm, shooting sporadically at vehicles and abducted the passengers.

Shortly after the terror attack, an undisclosed number of travellers were reported to have whisked away into the bush before the arrival of security operatives.
