Emerging reports have suggested a low turnout of voters for Saturday’s elections of chairmen and councillors in many polling booths across the 20 Local Governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas in Lagos.

Although the reason for the apathy is not immediately clear, Tribune reported that as of 9:30 am, some centres were found to be without voters.

In other booths visited, voters and party agents were seen waiting patiently for officials of Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) to arrive.

In Sunday Adugun area of Alausa in Ikeja where the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu usually casts his vote, LASIEC officials were spotted just arriving at 9:30 am, while few voters were sighted waiting for the commencement of the poll exercise.

Few metres away from there, precisely at the entrance of Shoprite, Ikeja, an electoral official was already seated with all the voting materials, but no voter was sighted around.

More details to come.
