JUST IN: Ambode reacts to APC’s 61-member committee invitation

A former governor of Lagos, Akinwunmi Ambode, on Tuesday described his invitation into the 61-member Contact and Strategy Committee of All Progressives Congress as a call to serve the nation.

The erstwhile governor whose political relevance dipped after he lost the 2019 guber election in Lagos disclosed this at the inauguration of the committee in Abuja.

Ambode, who last posted on his verified Twitter account on May 28, 2019, took to the social media platform again on Tuesday.

In a series of tweets via his official Twitter account on Tuesday, he wrote, “Along with other notable and distinguished colleagues, I was today selected by our party, the All Progressives Congress, to be a member of the Contact and Strategy Committee.

“This is a call to serve the Party and more importantly, our nation.”

The inauguration of the 61 members was officiated by Chairman of the Caretaker/ Extra-Ordinary National Convention Planning Committee of the APC, Mai Mala Buni, in Abuja on Tuesday.

Other notable persons inaugurated as members of the committee alongside Ambode are ex-Speakers House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole and Yakubu Dogara; and 12 governors.

Recall that The PUNCH earlier reported that the ruling party said the party needed to be in power for up to 32 years to consolidate on the delivery of the dividends of democracy which it has been delivering since 2015.
