JUST IN: 10 feared dead in Lagos-Ibadan Expressway crash

At least 10 people are feared dead following a serious road accident that happened early Tuesday morning on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Oyo State.

The crash, which took place around the Soka area of the expressway in Ibadan, involved six vehicles , three Nissan Micra taxi cabs and three heavy-duty articulated trucks. All the vehicles were said to be heading from the Iwo Road axis before the accident occurred.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as tragic, with several victims trapped inside the wreckage. Rescue workers and sympathisers worked to recover mutilated bodies from the crash site. Some passengers who survived were rushed to nearby hospitals with injuries.

As of the time of this report, emergency responders were still clearing the road and trying to confirm the exact number of deaths and those injured.

Traffic was heavy in the area as many vehicles had to turn back or wait for hours while emergency workers worked to clear the wreckage.

Officials have not released a full statement yet, but sources said speed and reckless driving may have contributed to the crash.

A radio report on Lagelu 96.7 FM confirmed that the crash involved multiple vehicles coming from the Iwo Road area.
