At least two kidnap suspects were rescued from being lynched by the police in Oyo State for allegedly attempting to kidnap a nine-year-old girl.
The incident happened on Sunday around Alakia Adelubi axis, Ibadan, around 9.20 a.m, according to Adewale Osifeso, the command’s Public Relations Officer.
Speaking in the state capital, Ibadan, on Monday, Osifeso said that the command’s operatives were on patrol when they got a distress call on the “execution of Jungle justice”.
According to The PUNCH, the victim identified as Ope was on her way to church when the suspects allegedly attempted to abduct her.
The two suspects attempted to seize the girl who was in the company of her mother, one Afolabi Modupe, and other siblings.
“The Commissioner of Police in the state, Ngozi Onadeko, appealed to the citizenry against taking laws into their hands with the assurance of a diligent and thorough investigation into the incident,” he said, noting that further updates would be communicated in due course.
