The Director-General of Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Captain Musa Nuhu, has warned that without total compliance to given protocols, no stakeholder will be handed a permit to be part of the restart.

Also, the Federal Government has given assurance on the provision of palliatives for the country’s aviation industry, saying work was already going on to make it available.

The Minister of Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, at the webinar coordinated by the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) on the status of the industry restart, reiterated that the provision by the government was being worked upon saying:

“It is already yes, we are working on it.”

Equally, the DG of NCAA, Captain Nuhu at the webinar gave warning that for the fact that the Federal Government had announced July 8 as resumption date does not mean safety was going to be jeopardised.

He warned that without total compliance to given protocols, no stakeholder will be handed a permit to be part of the restart.

His words:

“All stakeholders must meet the protocols set by the NCAA. If you do not meet, you are not granted permit to start. Some airlines will be given the approval to start. Not all airlines and airports will start.”

The Managing Director of Aerocontractors, Captain Ado Sanusi commended the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Captain Rabiu Yadudu on efforts made to get airports ready for the restart.

Responding to what mechanism would be used in controlling the traffic at the terminal, the NCAA DG, said the regulatory authority will be employing International Civil Aviation (ICAO) Air Traffic Flow Management instrument.

“ICAO’s Air Traffic Flow Management will control arrivals and departures. In order to properly manage this, we are going to request for airlines’ schedules to implement the AFTM with the space available to us at the airports.”

On security at the airports, the FAAN MD said:

“We have CCTVs across our airports and have proven to be effective.”
