Nigerian comedian and actor, Julius Agwu, has disclosed that he experienced sexual dysfunction after undergoing brain surgery in the United States in 2015.
Agwu made the disclosure during an episode of the Beer Parlour Talk Show uploaded on Saturday, where he discussed the impact of the medical procedure on his health, career and personal life.
During the programme, the host asked the comedian if the brain condition or subsequent surgery had affected other aspects of his body, particularly his sexual function.
Responding to the question, Agwu said, “After I do am, prick no dey work again now. He no dey work.”
Other guests on the programme, including Mr Patrick, subsequently discussed the connection between a nerve involved in the procedure and the brain, apparently relating the nerve damage to the condition Agwu described.
Other guests on the programme, including Mr Patrick, explained to Agwu how a nerve involved in the procedure was connected to the brain, appearing to link the nerve damage to the effect he described.
The conversation further examined the section of the brain that was involved in the surgery and the connection between it and the affected nerve.
Agwu had the operation in 2015 after doctors discovered three tumours in his brain, one of which was reportedly about the size of a golf ball.
Over the years, the comedian has spoken about his health ordeal, including the consequences it had for his personal life and professional career.
His latest disclosure emerged near the end of the Beer Parlour Talk Show episode, as he discussed an aspect of the surgery’s aftermath that he had rarely addressed publicly.
Agwu also spoke about his influence on Nigeria’s comedy industry, highlighting his role in the development and popularisation of music comedy.
“Music comedy na me form am o, that is to tell you how my brain dey work,” he said.
The comedian became emotional and broke down in tears as he reflected on his career, while also speaking about feelings of betrayal and abandonment by some people close to him.
“God wey I dey serve, anybody wey get hand for wetin happen to me. I go dey look. My friends deserted me. They stopped talking to me, many of them. It is well,” he said.
Agwu continues to be recognised as a notable figure in Nigeria’s comedy industry, particularly for his fusion of music and humour, as well as his contributions to Nollywood.
