US actor Jonathan Majors has received his punishment for the guilty verdict in his assault and harassment trial, and he’s managed to avoid jail time.
Majors appeared in court on Monday in NYC alongside his attorney and girlfriend, Meagan Good. Despite looking solemn and serious, he did not stop to answer questions. The judge sentenced him to a one-year intervention program to be completed in Los Angeles.
As part of the program, Majors will undergo 12 months of counseling, attending one session per week over 52 weeks. The District Attorney’s office warned that failure to comply with the program’s conditions could result in jail time.
Majors faced up to one year behind bars after being accused of roughing up his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari, and was convicted on two counts of assault and harassment, while acquitted on two other counts.
During the trial, witnesses testified about an incident in March 2023, alleging that Majors physically harmed Jabbari in the back of a rideshare vehicle. Surveillance footage from that night was presented in court, showing Majors attempting to escape Jabbari and eventually returning her to the vehicle.
While Majors denied laying a finger on Jabbari, she showed up the next morning with injuries she attributed to him, leading to his conviction.
Despite maintaining his innocence, Majors has faced significant consequences, including being removed from various Hollywood projects, including his role as Kang the Conqueror in Marvel.
However, Majors has expressed regret over the situation and is focusing on new projects.
