The event, hosted by media personality Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, also featured performances by Nigerian singer Simi and DJ Consequence.

John Legend’s unexpected visit to Lagos, accompanied by his wife, model Chrissy Teigen, was a highlight of the night.

The sold-out show saw the Grammy-winning artist perform some of his popular songs, including ‘Ordinary People’, ‘PDA’, ‘Green Light’, ‘All of Me’, and ‘Refuge’. He was joined on stage by Simi for a special performance.

“It’s been too long, I’ve missed you all,” John Legend said during his set. “We’re thankful to Global Citizen and Move Afrika for bringing us back here. We belong together, Lagos. I’m so happy we’re together tonight.”

Throughout the concert, John Legend showcased outfits designed by local designers Eleven Sixteen and Orange Culture, while his backstage look was styled by Emmy Kasbit. His backing vocalists also wore creations from Elexiay and Wanni Fuga.

Hugh Evans, Co-Founder and CEO of Global Citizen, described the 2025 Move Afrika tour as a major step in building a pan-African music touring circuit.

He said, “The Move Afrika tour is not just about music; it’s about creating opportunities. We aim to drive economic investment, expand infrastructure, and build local capacity within host cities. This will create jobs, provide skills training, and support youth entrepreneurship.”

The Move Afrika tour, launched in 2023, focuses on showcasing African creative talent while fostering collaboration between local and international artists. Lagos hosted this second instalment of the tour, marking a memorable night of music and advocacy.
