Law enforcement in Jigawa State has apprehended a 17-year-old, Abdulmuminu Tasiu, for swindling a Point of Sale vendor out of the sum of N900,000 in Maigatari Local Government.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, affirmed the arrest in an official statement.
According to Daily Post,the incident transpired on a Friday when Aminu Mustafa, a 38-year-old POS vendor from Unguwar Dodo quarters, Maigatari LGA, entrusted his machine to a customer for PIN entry during a money withdrawal.
The police statement narrated, “The POS vendor reported to the police that an unknown person came to his POS shop to withdraw money, and after being given the POS Machine, he deceitfully used it to transfer the sum of Nine Hundred Thousand Naira into his account.”
Upon receiving the information, patrolling police officers were alerted, leading to the arrest of 17-year-old Abdulmuminu Tasi’u from Adakawa quarters, Dala LGA, Kano State. He was subsequently brought to the station for further investigation.
During the interrogation, the suspect confessed to the commission of the offense. Authorities have indicated that after completing the investigation, the suspect will face legal proceedings in court.
