Security forces in Jigawa State have arrested 14 suspects and recovered fake currencies and weapons during a raid on a criminal hideout in Digawa village, Birnin Kudu Local Government Area.

The police spokesperson, SP Shi’isu Adam, confirmed the operation in a statement on Thursday. He said the joint security team acted on intelligence about a criminal group involved in fraud and violence in the area.

This comes two days after fraudsters from the same village attacked Dumus village, killing 60-year-old Isma’il Ibrahim and injuring eight others. The victims were taken to Federal Medical Centre Birnin Kudu for treatment and autopsy.

During Wednesday’s raid, security forces recovered: 9 fabricated pistols, 27 Dane guns, 37 gun pieces, 4 motorcycles, 12 fake US dollar bills, 188 fake Central African currency notes. Other items including bows, arrows, and criminal charms

“The suspects are in custody and undergoing investigation,” Adam said. “We will ensure they face the law for their crimes.”

The police praised the operation as proof of their commitment to fighting crime. They urged residents to report suspicious activities to help security agencies protect communities.

This successful raid follows increased security operations in Jigawa State to combat criminal groups operating in the area.
