Jigawa immigration arrests man with stolen ambulance from Niger Republic

A man attempting to smuggle a stolen ambulance from the Republic of Niger into Nigeria has been apprehended by officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service in Jigawa State.

The Comptroller of the NIS in the state, Tahir Abdullahi Musa, disclosed the arrest during a press briefing in Dutse.

According to him, the suspect, identified as Yusif Bashir, was intercepted at the Babura border while driving a Toyota Land Cruiser ambulance bearing the registration number ONG-0777.

“The suspect was intercepted with the stolen ambulance while entering Nigeria from Niger Republic through Babura,” Musa stated.

He further revealed that the suspect and the vehicle are being processed for handover to the Nigeria Police for continued investigation.

“We are preparing to hand him over to the police for a thorough investigation,” he added.

Musa also emphasized the NIS’s commitment to ongoing collaboration with other security bodies in the state, highlighting their collective efforts in maintaining public safety.

“The Service will keep strengthening its collaboration with other security agencies to safeguard lives and property in the state,” he assured.
